When Kennedy announced plans to go to the moon, did we already know exactly how to do it, or did we figure it out once he put the focus on it? #Syriawithdawal #Kurds

For the ten-millionth time, analogies are great for explaining a concept but terrible for persuasion. I explained that decisions can often come before plans. Adults do it regularly.

It looked like you were trying to persuade people that this is a good decision making process based on prior examples, not simply explaining that decisions can been made without plans (which seems pretty obvious to me), sorry if I misunderstood

Watch the TV pundits scream “No strategy!” as if we often have strategies.

If that was your point, and JFK was your explainer reference, I don't think it works. JFK promised to go to the moon a year after the Apollo program had started, and Kennedy was essentially setting and clarifying the moon as its goal. LOTS of prep/strategy already in place.

Irrelevant differences. Analogies all have differences. The point stands, that big decisions do not have detailed plans before being announced.

I agree that some big decisions do not have detailed plans before being announced. However, the Apollo program had not only detailed plans, but was well underway by the time JFK announced we'd go to the moon by '69, so I'm not sure how it's relevant here.

I’m not so sure about your time frame. JFK, in response to the Soviets, announced the space race with ultimate goal of moon. This was before we even had the first monkey do one orbit. I think it was around 1960? Within a few years, incredible progress had been made!

Dunning-Kruger affect @ScottAdamsSays? That and a lack of #leaders even when in a position of a leader. The world needs you Scott. Not sure it deserves you!
