Interesting hypothesis, but I’m not convinced. Fiction is universal, and fundamental to the notion of human intelligence. We’re the only species that communicates important ideas in fictional frameworks. I don’t think you can neatly delineate political thought that way.

I don't read fiction because my imagination can cycle through a hundred ideas before an author can get me to one. But that's just me.
