They take an oath to support the Constitution too. So if they aren't on the side supporting the 2nd Amendment they are breaking the law. So realistically there would be troops on both sides if things really fell apart. This isn't nazi Germany where troops kick in doors legally.

Depends. If there's an entity big enough to be considered it's own country, as with the last civil war, you could rationalize that they wouldn't be fighting U.S. citizens.

Exactly. That's also why the left has worked so hard to indoctrinate the young though. Brainwash them to believe that big government & big brother is a good thing. Luckily most of them snub their noses at the military, so there shouldn't be very many taking the wrong side.
