You told Sam Harris that "retreating to analogies" is essentially a bad thing but throughout the entire podcast you described Trump as "playing 4D chess". I think you need to do some more #wordthinking because that's very contradictory.https://twitter.com/ScottAdamsSays/status/1062516196078084097 …

Analogies are, in some, if not many cases absolutely necessary to articulate data. It's speaking in context so that others understand what you are saying. Sports analogies work bcs most ppl speak sports.

"Analogies are useless for persuasion" is just a ridiculous and baseless claim. There is a plethora of literature out there that show how powerful analogies can be. Here's an example:https://hbr.org/2005/04/how-strategists-really-think-tapping-the-power-of-analogy …

I counted at least 3 million times this point has been made

Merely repeating a claim many times doesn't make the claim true. I have seen no evidence to suggest that analogies are useless for persuasion. In contrast, there's a lot of evidence suggesting analogies are very powerful tools for persuasion.

Scott, please persuade Harris that he failed philosophy class by using the max-suffering analogy as his base thesis.

Analogies are great for limiting the scope of options when describing something. "A zebra is like a horse with stripes" gets you from the animal kingdom to horse shaped animals. But useless to persuade you that a zebra is better than a cat. It's not. Zebras won't use a litter box
