Are you suggesting quotas then? Just in case there are not diverse candidates to ensure one wins somewhere? Is a less diverse government inherently worse than a more diverse one?

Wrong it requires smart, qualified Americans who adhere to the constitution and will work on behalf of their constituents wishes not their own. Their race and gender is totally irrelevant.

All politicians claim to work on behalf of their constituents. More diversity adds to credibility that everyone in a large group is represented.

"A credible government in 2018 requires diversity." I'm struggling with that one, primarily because we're all diverse in thought. If were going to go with multiple skin colors as providing distinct advantages... why not rich vs. poor? Educated vs. ignorant? Old vs. young?

You are technically correct, which counts for nothing. People "feel" ethnicity and gender and religion. That makes it real.

The most important kind of diversity is diversity of thought. Skin color or sexual orientation alone is not a reliable marker of diversity of thought. I'll bet most of those "historic" lawmakers think pretty much the same.
