Let's try to put some figures here. Here's a list of the main associations funded in the US by Soros: https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/open-society-foundations/ … /1

(IDK where this is going). Let's pick randomely one in that list, Drug Policy Alliance. It seems they have other donors indeed, but in what proportions vs Soros ? https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/drug-policy-alliance/ … /2

Link 1 says 62 million over 5 years, ie 12,4M /year from S to DPA. Link 2 says DPA yearly revenue in 2015 is 14,2M So just from this it's 87% Soros. /3

That being said quickchecking other associations shows a more normal approach with Soros typically counting for 10% of big left association such as planned parenthood. Still, DPA is the biggest recipient of Soros /4

Another case - ACLU is widely seen by the right has having failed to fight for their rights ie fullfilling it's mission statement. ACLU had roughly 34M revenues for 2014 https://www.aclu.org/files/pdfs/about/ACLU%20Form%20990%20Public%20Disclosure%20Copy.pdf … /5

It means with link1 that Soros funds publicly 16% of ACLU. That's just the public part. Soros could be contributing in other non public ways easily. In an association with a lot of private donors, 16% is a lot of weight anyway. /6

It seems some associations are just "Soros thing" and some others he's weighting in heavily. Does he push them in some directions ? Not more than CNN owners, I guess. He doesn't tell them what to day, but he likely push hiring top ppl who thinks his way. /7

Those associaton do have a purpose so I think it adress the question of why people are giving along Soros, or before he came up. What should matter is whether Soros is cheating the game by flooding it with so much money just by himself. /8

...Or whether he's playing fait in his philanthropy. I think we need case study. I'd like to know more about ACLU - Soros interaction for instance. /end

Reopening bc I found this. https://www.aclu.org/news/aclu-awarded-50-million-open-society-foundations-end-mass-incarceration … That's more than a year of income for ACLU and it just predates the period where ACLU seem to have develop an anti right bias. Bad optics at the very least.

Seems to me the ACLU would have moved in the direction they moved no matter who funded them. The left-leaning groups all tilted lefter. Click-press-media guarantees movement away from the middle.

Then why over fund it? It's all hypothetical thinking " only things I can imagine can happen" fallacy IMO. We don't know what happened. Money is real though. In a working world, some journalist would have reason to investigate.
