A "fighting for freedom" intent in Libya resulted in the resurgence of slave trade in the XXIth century. That poster boy case in a long streak of similarly stated goal resulting in a similar outcome makes it reasonable to take every "I fight for freedom" /w defiance.

In Soros case too there's a streak of cases (I mentioned one) to consider his stated intention false and his endgame toxic. Not to say you can't build a positive case on him as well - I understand you can from his actions in USSR era.
