In my first job as a bank teller, I was robbed at gunpoint by a man I described in great detail to the FBI. I was 100% confident in my description. Bank security video showed an entirely different person robbing me. Not even close.

Same thing i notice with a friend, she swears things happened differently that i can recall. Now wonder about my life experiences and the conclusions i draw from them. Im trying to recall my mindset and seeing cognitive distortions that could come from it. It's very interesting!

No, you have no idea of what youre talking about. Thats exactly how memories work. Exactly. Your own mind changes your memories every day. Normal humans switch out details in every memory thats ever happened. Even in traumatic experiences.
