What they have in common is a worldview that is opposed to left ideology. So social media companies try to suppress its expression. Ideologies are basically religions without gods. Anyway, your claim was they can move the needle. I agree, just not enough in the case of Brexit.

Another thought on your interesting theory: I think manipulating content could interfere with the business model of Twitter, FB,.. Basically they sell very accurate profiles of their users to advertisers. If they manipulate content user profiles will be less accurate. Agree?
