Racism today is more commonly an individual action than a truly institutional or group action. As such, the greatest part of overcoming any historical presumption of a group as "racist" is through individual personal interaction.

I disagree that this keeps anyone looking racist (assuming "my" side). Rather, it seems you are continuing to say a presumption of racism based on nothing but a political tag is in some way reasonable, and it is that presumption itself I reject.
