I’ll be discussing this on Periscope in a few minutes. Watch this video first. https://twitter.com/shaunking/status/1012457662506782721 …

Straight. Out. I mean, I wish he wouldn't have gotten tased. But he was obviously not fully compliant, unlike @ShaunKing says in his tweet.

Definitely not fully compliant, but the policeman was admittedly too quick to resort to the taser. Looks like the guy was just confused, he even crossed his legs. At the same time I can see it from the officers perspective, the guys hands were out of sight.

I'm happy for us all to discuss whether he was too quick to use force. If we all agree, then he was, and we punish him and draw clear lines, train based on them. He was so not compliant with the simple command it made me initially question whether English was his first language.

Yeah he seemed reluctant to straighten his legs out, but was clearly confused when he was asked to cross his legs. I would have given him another chance to straighten out if I were the officer, but of course that's easy for me to say on Twitter 😂.

My analysis might be incomplete. I didn't hear the conflicting commands. The one with the taser is so loud. I think that makes it the mistake of the officers if it is the case, and would explain his confusion, they weren't clear and should've given him grace as a result perhaps.

Listening again, she said "Straight out AND CROSS THEM." Pretty clear and in line with the other officer's command.

How's that look clear to you? Could easily be interpreted as do the first thing first and then do the second thing, which is exactly what he did.

Straight out then cross them after 10 straight out commands means straight out first then cross them. He started pulling them back prior to the cross them remark being given.

Your personal certainty is irrelevant. It only takes a few commenters to say it sounded ambiguous in order to PROVE it can be ambiguous to some. And you see that in the comments. Case closed.

Not to mention that it would be much easier to get confused in a stressful situation like that. I can imagine doing something similar myself while flustered with a taser aimed at my back.

So something is ambiguous if people say they disagree? I understand why you might say this, and even how it is true in some ways. However, it doesn't warrant a lack of discussion. I'm one of the views producing said ambiguity. And we can't operate like that. Hence: judges.
