Pointing out hypocrisy is the lamest form of persuasion. Here's 3 reasons why.

      1. It gives the illusion of a moral argument without moral principles. Like showing Trump tweets that contradict. It's just a way to mock him without saying which tweet you agree with, how you would resolve the hypocrisy, what you believe to be true and good, etc. Just say it.

      2. Much of the time the hypocrisy is surface level anyway, and the person has deeper commitments that you're ignoring. ("You think it's okay to deny service to Nazis but not gay people? Hypocrisy much?") See also:pic.twitter.com/yqHYDiTApq

      3. Even if you're right that the person is being a hypocrite, their followers won't care. No one does. It's a funny thing to point out but it just makes you seem like a scold.

FYI to all the angry Trumpers in my mentions, I'm pretty sure @ScottAdamsSays is agreeing with me and simply adding an extra reason.https://twitter.com/ScottAdamsSays/status/1010763219621691392 …

Reason 4: You can’t claim hypocrisy without admitting your side is guilty. https://twitter.com/jeremymclellan/status/1010755704884551681 …

Correct. I say the same as you about hypocrisy. You’re the first person I’ve ever known to agree with the point.

I get it. Anytime hypocrisy is pointed out an example of our own is always pointed back. We're all flawed creatures that often make irrational choices that can conflict with one another.

If I did something wrong and then was called out on it. Then, called the other person out on it TOO (meaning I have to admit my fault).... ...and then I call them a hypocrite... It admits fault (on my part) but does not excuse or explain my original mistake. Interesting 🤔👍
