Replying to @ScottAdamsSays @DykeVanTom
Heidegger did not want to live in boring times or have boring politics and neither did Carl Schmitt so they gave their support to the Nazis so they could feel excited.

You people who love to casually throw the term “Nazi” around are spitting on the graves of the innocent people that real Nazis killed. You have no ***king clue and no perspective on the real world.

Nope. See para 27 Strauss's Notes on the Concept of the Political. Liberalism is a boring politics as it believes we are friends even if we disagree. Schmitt wanted politics of true threat, friends vs enemies, of violent death exciting politics. Anything less was "entertainment"

Schmitt can be excited or bored all day long, it’s not indicative of why people choose their politics today.pic.twitter.com/97pCOUNfiL

I fear you do not know much about politics or political history. It has every bearing on how people choose politics today. Charlottesville was a reminder. Trump is not discouraging that as he says "You also had some very fine people on both sides." Mr Adams wants that excitement.

The monument debate can be a civil one. Good people can want to preserve history as both a reminder of the past and a warning to not repeat the ugliness of hatred. Good people, if it’s their prerogative, can also express disagreement, wanting no reminders whatsoever.

The monument issue is not a debate. There are no monuments to the Nazis in Germany. In the US it is wrong to have any monuments to those who sought to impose slavery and who tried to destroy the Constitution. There are not good people on the side of slavery.

You imagine some people are pro-slavery?
