Actually it really isn’t. For Trump’s negotiation approach to work as you say it does, he makes threats that seem crazy. The ONLY way those work is if we cannot tell for sure if he is crazy or not. It is an outcome.

For instance, if you knew he was smart, then you know he wouldn’t nuke NK if there is no deal. If you thought he was crazy, you couldn’t be sure he would keep to a deal. It is only by making you perfectly uncertain that he can have it both ways.
