Just to be clear, you could in fact do your own research. If you aren’t happy with news reports (which are often fairly condensed analysis), go to the original source materials, study the trade regulations, work with industry groups. You know, the stuff that experts do.

Here is the math, the US has a trade SURPLUS with Canada. Dairy constitutes far less than 1% of total.

You left out our tariffs on them and any farm subsidies. Why would we screw our own farmers just because they don’t sell as much as steel makers?
