To be fair it appears Sam Bee walked that baby back the same night. Still, she at least did it. And many on the left condemned the act. That’s something. It could be enough if applied often and with vigor.

"I'm sorry if your feelings were hurt" is very different from Bee's and Roseanne's believable apologies. The first sounds like "It's your fault you reacted like you did to my innocent comment." That may be true but is the subject for a different conversation.

Most people who need to apologize are flaky, insincere and corrupt, and apologizing won't change that. Hive minded people are oblivious to what they're doing, need to apologize, but never will, because there are so many on their "side".

Parents can often tell when their children are being sincere with an apology or if they are just begrudgingly 'flipping a switch/going through the motions' to get a desired result.
