And as recently as 2016 he still thought they might be guilty. But I agree some sort of gesture would be helpful.

Yes, as recently as 2016. Do you know when and why the five subjects' convictions were overturned? 2002, on DNA evidence. Yet, fourteen years later, Trump WAS STILL PERSECUTING THEM. Based on this, are there any conclusions we can draw about Trump? Or would that be mind reading?

And your question seems to assume he would act different with white defendants to the same crime. That is not in evidence.

1/ No, but nor is this a court of law. Roy Moore didn't lose his Senate bid because he was convicted of sexual misconduct; he lost because the allegations against him were credible.

2/And when you weigh Trump's behavior in this matter, along side the MYRIAD other examples, a pattern emerges. And I'm not talking about his racist tendencies exclusively; there are SO MANY reports of his callous treatment of people.

3/Although you might say that this all paints a subjective or inconclusive picture, we have numerous OBJECTIVE cases also. E.g. The man tells untruths DAILY, and you know it. I hesitate to call them "lies," since I don't know if he's intending to deceive, or if he's mentally ill.

4/Trump is a BRILLIANT self promoter and marketer. I suspect he could sell anybody anything. He's a savant in those respects. But I wouldn't trust him to sell me what I needed--I think he'd apply his considerable acumen toward selling me what earned him the highest commission.

5/I don't say this because I think I can "read his mind." I say this because all of his words and actions cohere in a very consistent and damning way. He said he knew ISIS better than the generals; replacing Obamacare would be easy; Mexico would pay for the wall.

6/Facts should have mattered there, because all of that was baseless, superficial fluff. It wasn't simply untrue; it was TRANSPARENTLY, ABSURDLY untrue. Facts should have mattered to people. You said the other day, "critical thinking is rare." You are SO CLEARLY RIGHT about that.

7/Trump's most ardent supporters should be the ones screaming the loudest about his taxes. If my preferred candidate were President, and didn't show his taxes after SAYING HE WOULD, I would never drop it. Trust should be earned, not granted. How has Trump earned your trust?

I like the “not stupid” President who knows his taxes would be taken out of context and misinterpreted.
