I agree with that if their innocence is certain and they lived crime-free lives after their acquittals. Otherwise it gets messy for a tough-on-crime President.

Reading up on the situation now. Gets muddy because Trump’s ad was anti-crime in general. Didn’t even mention the case. Plus he doesn’t apologize (general rule) and there is nothing to pardon because cases were vacated.

And as recently as 2016 he still thought they might be guilty. But I agree some sort of gesture would be helpful.

Yes, as recently as 2016. Do you know when and why the five subjects' convictions were overturned? 2002, on DNA evidence. Yet, fourteen years later, Trump WAS STILL PERSECUTING THEM. Based on this, are there any conclusions we can draw about Trump? Or would that be mind reading?

And your question seems to assume he would act different with white defendants to the same crime. That is not in evidence.
