"The battle for the Vatican." Fascinating events with real world consequences. That old bugger Ratzinger should keep out of Papal affairs; he reminds me of a guru figure who can't get over their self-importance, need for power & loss of role.

It's not rocket science folks. It's old-fashioned, basic human decency. It's not very dramatic, or exciting, or Tweet worthy, or status boosting, but it does help communities function well, wherever they're located, & whatever size, from the Globe to a couple, to function better.

Here's a simple thought that was once considered noble; if you're wrong, admit it, learn from it, and move on. Then, if you feel so inclined, help others not to repeat the same mistake whilst respecting the human tendency to make them as inevitable.

I've argued for a long while that the economic drivers of populism are overstated (see our book for why). It is partly why the left has replied so poorly to it. And here's some more evidence for that thesis Ht

In Italy, Greta haters span the generations. I am utterly perplexed as to why. What odd disorder would have them hating on the wake up call that she represents?

If we were to frame racism as fundamentally a form of ignorance, for example, & as something that education & learning addresses, we might change tactic from viewing it as its currently seen as a form of societal sin, & evil, to being a sign of a need for adult education.

If we only see it polarisation as a consequence of social media, we're missing the bigger view dramatically. To expect adults to make well-informed, intelligent decisions and evaluation without a commitment to long-term, continuous, adult development is frankly stupid.
