    The main problem I’ve found with the most brilliant but boring scientists is that they don’t view communication as a skill like they do their science. If you do want to communicate, some great talk advice here.

    A year ago, a non-academic friend listened to a talk I gave. I thought it went great. My friend disagreed. She said that academics are experts at making interesting stuff boring—and that we should all take a speech class. So I did. And here are 6 most useful things I learned.

    Yes, I have a forthcoming interview with a health physicist/photographer who’s been “close enough to the Elephant’s Foot to hug it” multiple times. He’s fine, as you can see. It’s all about time and distance.
