There is no indication that the USAF LSA program involves crewed flight.

Doesn't surprise me too much. BFR would require refueling flights for at least some reference orbits (unless they also bid a kick stage), I can see why USAF wouldn't want to get in on the ground floor with complex missions like that.
-
A reusable kick stage would make the most sense in my opinion. BFR delivers a 6T payload along with kick stage to LEO. Kick stage transfers payload to GEO. BFR returns to Earth. Kick stage returns to LEO. Next BFR mission picks up kick stage and returns it to Earth.

side note: curious what if any political pressure to fund the OmegA

I get the sense that the investment in OmegA will go about as well as the investment in the AR-1 engine. At least Blue Origin got some money to build an actual next-gen rocket.

Ironic that the BFR is designed to be safe, reliable and readily available thanks to full reusability in a way that the contract winners will never be able to match. NG and OmegA are especially unproven designs, far from guaranteed to be a good investment.

Safe, reliable? Solids aren't safe. They can't be shut down. *Ignition* is fairly reliable, operation is really no better than liquids. They also shake the payload a lot, which is why they're inferior for people & sophisticated satellites. But at least Blue Origin got something.
-
This may be true. But solids are a known technology. At least from the AF perspective.

That’s entirely possible. But $800m will go a long way toward getting it to the pad. Hard to see many AF missions after FH, F9, Vulcan and New Glenn tho.
