Couldn't agree more Arnie. Same thing is happening in Australia, sadly. What about nuclear? If done safely, it is a clean solution to power generation too, that can complement renewables for base load provision (especially in highly polluting markets like India and China).

It is definitely time to revisit nuclear power. We are using second-generation technology at any current plant operating in the US. Meanwhile, my ex was machining parts (in Greensburg, PA) for German and Japanese plants, now using fifth generation tech.

The real problem is that NO ONE wants a nuclear power plant in their town. They take decades to get approval. It's a big risk. Plus there is still no clear pl as n of how to get rid of spent fuel. We just put it under ground for now... Till they come up with a better solution.

It's actually kind of worse than that re: waste storage... sometimes it's simply stacked on-site. It's time to re-examine the cost-benefit, and look at newer tech measures already in use elsewhere. It might not be the answer, just time to look again.

Have you gone nuts in your old age. The miners have great jobs mining. There is not a new energy source yet and you can't just move jobs to mining communities. And you can't just pick up the miners and move them to jobs. Use what we have til the new source arrives.
