My heart is bursting. On the eve of my first child's birth, my dad - who's been in prison nearly my entire life - was granted clemency. He never intended harm, yet his crime devastated many families. My heart breaks for the families that can never get their loved ones back.

There are lesser charges like conspiracy to commit a crime, etc. And no sitting in a car to drive away after a robbery is not a "direct connection" to ending a life, and not at all analogous to hiring a hitman.

To drive armed men with assault rifles to steal $1.7 million (in 1981, people have killed for 1,000x less) from a brinks truck (also with armed men).. is not just “after a robbery”Context matters. It’s absolutely in direct connection, he was there. Helping commit the crime.
