    There is a most curious expression of observables on time-dependent Dp/D(p+2)-brane bound states (=Yang-Mills monopoles in the D(p+2) worldvolume) as knot invariants, specifically as sl2 weights systems on chord diagrams:

    Oh, I see. Yes, AdS spacetime plays a crucial role in conceptually explaining confinement in the gauge theory on its asympotic boundary. This is the original insight of Witten's (Sakai&Sugimoto built on that insight, whence now "Witten-Sakai-Sugimoto".

    An analogous brane configuration constructs 2d QCD (the 't Hooft model). Here color D4-branes become D2-branes & baryon D4-branes become D6-branes & meson fields now come from 3d CS. This variant of the Witten-Saki-Sugimoto model is due to Gao-Xu-Zeng06

    It was really nice visiting Prof. Sadok Kallel at American University of Sharjah last week. Over colloquium dinner in Dubai we would chat about homotopy theory of configuration spaces with a view on the Burj Khalifa Fountain spectacle.
