I meant to include this photo in my "1980s Camelot" tribute to Sam Danishefsky () but was unable to locate it. Well, here it is, better late than never (how many faces can you recognize?).

Today: "The Patient-Scientist's Mandate" — how the work we do to develop a drug for prion disease is informed by Sonia's perspective as a patient at risk. There are 3 ways that we sometimes diverge from other scientists.

Unless, of course, CART is coupled with small-molecule regulation. Feasible with chemical inducers of proximity, especially since genetic manipulation of the TCR is already a requirement. Just need to add a small-molecule responsive FKBP12 domain.

For all of my Chem 101 Precision Medicine students: Please read Eric Minikel's entry on weeding out a GWAS artifact via a deep dive into colocalization. The data are illuminating, but we need to interpret them thoughtfully. Here's a great guide for doing so.

Cautionary note for N = 1 claims such as the single Christchurch apoE3 variant causing protection of a "monogenic" early onset AD PSEN1 allele: polygenic risk powerfully modifies the risk conferred by monogenic risk variants. Time to reassess ?

Editorial: The Trump administration is choosing to act against the consensus of the scientific community. The EPA’s Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science rule needs to be viewed against the backdrop of this reality.

Great to see the important science of biomolecular condensates being translated to what would be highly novel mechanism of action drugs. Will be watching this collaboration with great interest.
