Given what just happened in Toronto and the apparent motives for it, the next clown who runs up behind a female reporter who is just doing her job and shouts FHRITP should be jailed. Not probation, not a suspended sentence, not community service. Jailed. Time to send a message.

I see that there is a pronoun in what you wrote. — Nobody said there was an equivalence. It was to compare and contrast free speech in Canada and the USA. Point = missed.
-
So, why couldn’t one be, hypothetically charged with assault for yelling that? Y’all do have verbal assault laws...
-
Actually no we don’t

Also what Smith wrote regarding the US is wrong anyways. The statement isn't about "shouting fire in a crowded theatre" but rather it is about "**falsely** shouting fire". People quote it without the distinction as a "precedent" to free speech limitation.
-
Even that, I learned after being called out, is incorrect, as it doesn’t fall under imminent incitment. Yeah, it might cause people to get hurt, but it doesn’t incite criminal activity
