It seems likely that this specimen is the largest ever recorded, and in strange UFO-like feeding posture. This is amazing! Did the crew manage to get lasers on it for a guess at its approximate size?
The #ROV pilot used #SuBastian and its lasers to estimate the size: this siphonophore’s outer ring measured in at 15m (49ft) diameter, so just that ring *alone* seems to be approximately 47m (154ft)!
How big do you estimate it is?
