It's harder than ever for me to get my brain into weekend mode, since I think about fundraising for Disability Victory the first thing in the morning, the last thing at night, & all day. But I do have some fun plans this weekend if my body & brain will just cooperate.

IDK how I'm drafting this report so erratically, I wrote 3/4 of the introduction then jumped to section 3. Then I'm going to do 4, 2 maybe? then the rest of the introduction

Me: "It's Phone it in Friday" Also me: hyperfocusing and writing out a major section of this report this afternoon BUT I might quit like a half hour early today so I guess that's my "taking it easy"

I've had a headache basically every day the past few weeks. I attribute it to pollen so I haven't seen a neurologist at this point (and the headaches are moderate at worst lately), but maybe if it continues it's time to see a specialist.

Happy Phone it in Friday! I'm just out of juice today with this headache. Luckily I have just one meeting I need to focus on and otherwise, I'm giving myself space to take care of myself.

That's the fun thing about scheduled meds. You can take them as prescribed but if you have symptoms too often and need the meds to treat the symptoms, that could be suspicious.

My headaches have been bad over the past month and TBH I wonder if I should see a specialist or it's just a really bad pollen season? I've caved and taken the Forbidden Ibuprofen too.

One of the fun things with my headaches is that I've gone through my headache meds too quickly and can't ask for them for awhile. And by too quickly I mean no more than prescribed and as needed but there's still an expectation that I stretch scripts out over months.

so it looks like the Daily Mail accidentally leaked the last name of Jordan Neely’s killer, Daniel Penny, on a photo caption hours before he was actually identified. so now it’s confirmed that news orgs had his name for some time but did not release it to protect him

The point is too many leftists think mentally ill ppl are scary. That is sanist. & these same ppl think that bc they don’t want to murder mentally ill ppl that it’s ok to ignore their sanist biases which contribute to culture of violence against mentally ill ppl. Hope that helps

“Some of you get scared around people having mental health crises in public” ok what’s your point? What are you even doing here. Are you helping

Canine dementia is really hard. Cassie hurt her paw today and is limping badly, but won't stop her pacing and circling. Gave her gabapentin and we're hoping it'll let her settle.

The Tiny Ancient One has hurt her paw, but refuses to stop pacing on it. She has the temperament of a feral cat but a demand for servants akin to British royalty (because she will literally demand to be hand fed)

Going to try to pull myself out of this bad mood tonight by focusing on things that give me joy: reading, spinning some yarn, and knitting. Speaking of knitting, in honor of #StarWarsDay, the double knit Star Wars scarf I knit a few years back.
A two-sided scarf in maroon and white with the same patterns on both sides in opposite colors. The patterns are from Star Wars and include the Death Star, the Millennium Falcon, R2D2, lightsabers, AT-ATs, and more.

Today has just been crummy. Time to go grocery shop and then make grilled cheese and tomato soup because cheese can at least help emotionally.

Studying to become a concert violinist as a child gave me a lot of bad things (a lifetime of trauma and a PTSD response at symphonies), but I'm glad I've held onto the same self-discipline that I cultivated to practice for at least 4 hours a day starting at age 10.

Is there anything better than getting a stack of great books from the library? I've spent the last two nights absolutely lost in a library book + working on my new book planner, and it makes me so happy. Libraries are a gift + one of the best parts of society.

Shameless plug time (because of course I have to): if you want to support disabled leaders who believe in and fight for progressive change, support Disability Victory as we get off the ground

I once met a woman in a women's campaign training space who would go to vote and only vote for the women on the ballot regardless of their policy positions. And somehow she thought this was advancing women's rights/equality?

Greg Abbott is just another example of why I'm not going to go around saying "more disabled people in elected office will be better for disabled people" because it's not true. Representation for representation's sake is harmful. #CripTheVote

Holy shit. The Texas Senate just passed a bill to give Greg Abbott’s handpicked Sec. of State the power to overturn elections in the 3rd biggest county in the U.S. Republicans weaponizing 2020 election lies to rig elections. This is a HUGE story.

I know there is a value to and a focus on grassroots and small-dollar donations, but when disabled people experience poverty at such high rights, they need those resources to get food and housing and meds, and just whatever joy & comfort they can get.

And contributions from disabled folks hold the most meaning for me because I know how expensive it is to be disabled. But also this is a reminder that I do not want people who are struggling to get by to give their survival resources.

When I say every single donation counts, it is especially true in the beginning, when it's the difference of being able to afford our UPS mailbox, incorporation fees, & Google Workspace.
