As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I agree w/ everyone pointing out that the Democrats engage in performative opposition and do the bare minimum in resisting the march toward fascism. Ripping up a speech is cool but refusing to fund the border camps, the wall & the militarization of outer space would go further.

we remember the . A blast in Sarajevo's crowded Markale market hit civilian shoppers and traders between tightly packed stalls, killing 68 people and wounding 144 in one of the worst atrocities committed during the siege.

And special thanks to Pep for thinking that he needed no new center halfs, what with John Stones and Otamendi and such.

Fernandinho and Otamendi should become honorary Liverpool members at the end of this season.

The GOP is not merely radically reinterpreting the role of the American presidency - placing it essentially above and beyond the rule of law - it’s simultaneously imploding the legitimacy of the Congress. It’s hard to overstate how corrosive this shift is to constitutional govt.

As far as I can recall, she has few, if any, Bosnians/Bosniak she directly (not quoting from books/documentaries) talked to. She talked to Bakir Izetbegović, but that was mainly to confirm that his father was an "Islamist."

The implication is that for as long as there are Muslims around there will be a possibility of genocide. The way to avoid genocide is to properly eliminate Muslims—genocide prevention by way of final solution.

Handke and Stern see their war criminals as „complex“ leaders who mad tough decisions in a bad situation. What made it bad in the first place was the growing presence of Muslims, playing the victims even if they brought the calamity upon themselves by existing in large numbers.

Milošević + Karadžić shouldn't have gone overboard, but at the same time the Nobel Committee, Handke and Stern can understand that a European fearing Muslim invasion might lose his cool and slip into genocide.

For Jessica Stern, Karadžić the handsome war criminal may have overdone the genocide thing a bit, but if he did, it was out of understandable fear that Serbs would be overcome by Islamists, which is what Muslims usually become if let loose.

Portions of Jessica Stern’s book that describe the 1990s war in Bosnia, and the historic events that preceded it, closely echo the rhetoric of Serb nationalism.
