The 'Monty Hall Problem' is a classic example of a conditional dependency / collider bias situation. Has anyone ever tried to explain it using DAGs. If so, what does their DAG look like?

Writing an abstract & some heavy duty emails, so as constructive procrastination, here's 10 harmful beliefs I held as an early career scholar. I no longer think this way.

It was an incredible honor to meet Baruch’s family tonight, to hear amazing tributes to his legacy as a scholar and a teacher, and to win this award in his name. Thank you to everyone who made this come together so beautifully. , it’s a special place you’ve got here!

I worry that we don’t always ask the right questions in epidemiology. For example, in nutritional epi, we often ask questions like, is eating red meat bad and then we also think about how much. Is that the most relevant question for public health or personal decision making?

Philosophers talk about “alt-academic” paths, but it often feels like a mood (the feeling that jobs outside of academia must exist) without any particulars denoted. Is there any place where such jobs hide (or exist) if someone is not an ethicist? Asking for a friend; viz, myself.

Agreed- I do not understand why, if you thought that RCTs warrant causal language, you would think that meta-analyses of RCTs would not warrant causal language? Anyone have a charitable read on this?

If I redraw a published DAG, & include it as an 'example' in a paper, does that violate the copyright? If so, when is it NOT a copyright violation? If I change the variable names? If I change the variable locations? When is a DAG 'new' & when is it 'derived'?

You have a patient who is really sick. You feel that doing CPR would be inappropriate were they to lose a pulse. Do you offer CPR as an option when discussing goals of care with patient/family? Or do you view it as futile, and tell them that it won’t be an option in that case?
