The second a right-winger is able to weaponize the problems in progressive/allied spaces, the "good liberal" presumes that the account is exaggerated, which creates a cycle no one can break out of.

If I remember correctly he supported invaded Iraq. Wrong then, wrong now. Can you imagine on Pakistani TV there would be American or UK pundits even if they spoke Urdu giving advice from colonialist how to run Pakistan. Then there's Yasha Mounk telling Ds what we should do.
