I do the eye thing all the time on camera (I call it "eyes to the sky". It's a reaction to not having the ability to make eye contact like IRL.

Content of what you said is spot on. I think the answer lies in the oppressor vs oppressed narrative. If that narrative is to persist you have to have one "oppressor" which systems of power have determined it is gonna be White people this go around (Jews in the past).
