If “family connections” were broadened to “connections” more generally I think that would be the clear winner
-
Pragmatically though, how does one obtain “connections” more broadly? I’m assuming enough fame/wealth would grant you that automatically.

I voted education because many people in the media and the academy don't have any of the bottom three but I don't know how you can not include them in the elite.
-
Are there many celebrities you would not include as elite?

They’re all interconnected. So it’s difficult to choose one factor since some of them just go together.

I'm curious to see the results of this poll because I really don't know the answer here. The phrase "the elites" is one of my pet peeves because it's so nebulous. Being "elite" could refer to anyone.

Plus, a lot of the characteristics deemed negative are actually positive. I.e. being educated, wealthy, etc.

Family connections means you're already in. Wealth is what let's you join the club. Education means you might get invited to dinner, or be given a position where you might make a decent living, but it isn't membership. Being famous means you might get invited for drinks.

Interestingly, it's also true in smaller communities, which wouldn't be considered 'elite' in terms of wealth or fame. In a blue-collar town, if you're related to someone, it can translate to an 'in' at the local plant or factory. Depends on what opportunities are available.
