Cook told me nothing precipitated the decision to shut down the rally , and the group was supposed to walk the two blocks to the early vote station together when the gathering was declared an “unlawful assembly”

She listed off at least a half-dozen who were arrested, said kids, older ppl were tear gassed . They were “keeping us from doing what we came here to do today”

We ended our interview as Cook, in tears, told me she wonders if she has to move in order to escape the blatant racism in her home town of Graham and Alamance co. “I feel like this is what our ancestors died from”. She’s in line with about 100+ others waiting to vote

Faith isn't wrong....plain and simple, Graham wants to remain in 1963. Law enforcement consists of people who grew up here and carry with them the same prejudices they were taught as children.
