A 26 month sentence for a non-violent charge. High risk because of a pre-existing condition and pregnant. Why wasn't she released? She could have served any remaining time with home monitoring and probation. This is a tragedy that could have been prevented.

She never should’ve been incarcerated. If her problem was addiction, she should’ve been in treatment. If it was dealing, she needed a legal alternative to poverty.
