My mum (82) from Germany, married my British dad in 1965 & became a UK national. She has a UK passport & has lived in UK since the 80s. Yesterday she got a letter saying she has to apply for settled status or will lose nhs & pension & right to stay. This can't be? She's in bits!

  2. So many British farmers shouldn't have voted for then. But I'm sure Johnson and trade minister Liz Truss will secure a good deal for British farming. Just like Johnson and Brexit minister David Frost did for British fishing. * *No, they didn't

  5. We asked people from around the world to compare their health care system with the American system. “Skin to skin after a C-section is $39,” says a woman in Japan, reading from a U.S. medical bill. “You need to pay money to hold a baby?”

Dowden says he wants a rounded understanding of history then states as fact that Britain led the world in eradicating slavery. France was the 1st nation to abolish the slave trade (in 1792) before Napoleon reintroduced it + Haiti the first to permanently abolish it (1804).

  8. Shocked and appalled at the footage of disturbing and vile anti-Semitic incidents taking place in London today. Our city must remain a safe and welcoming place for all religions. London will not stand for racism of any kind.

  9. 5/ I hope will also reflect on what more must be done to tackle this behaviour by fans, albeit a minority. However, ultimate responsibility lies with those who behaved in such a thuggish, sectarian and selfish manner. And that’s why we must let the police do their job.

  10. 4/ Understandably people ask questions about if/how government and police can do more to prevent/tackle scenes like these, and there is a need to reflect. That said, officers have my admiration & thanks for the job they did in difficult and dangerous circumstances

  11. 3/ People across the country still living under the most difficult restrictions - not able to see family or attend weddings and funerals - are rightly furious at the irresponsible actions of a thuggish minority who seem to care little for the risks they pose to other people

  12. 2/ I’m also angry on behalf of every law abiding citizen. In normal times, the violence & vandalism, & the vile anti Catholic prejudice that was on display, would have been utterly unacceptable. But mid-pandemic, in a city with cases on the rise, it was also selfish beyond belief

  13. 1/ I’m understandably inundated with messages about y’day’s disgraceful scenes in Glasgow. Police still have a job to do, which restrains my comments to some extent - but to say I’m utterly disgusted by the Rangers fans who rampaged through the city would be an understatement...

More revelations about the sleaze engulfing Boris Johnson and his team. Today is the turn of Lord Udny-Lister, who reportedly approved an £187m taxpayer-backed loan to help a firm that was paying him. Why are voters not more outraged by this grisly and self-serving crew?

  17. Absolutely, , I was 1 of the MEPs for London for 15 years, 1999-2014. This guide only talks about step-free in changing between branch platforms, which I fear (disgracefully) means no step-free to exit. might know more
