This is why Trump is leaning so hard into the LAW AND ORDER message. It’s starting to resonate—and beyond Trump’s base. And my guess is you’ll hear a lot about violence at the convention as R’s want to make sure they connect it to Democratic lead cities and not Trump’s America.

Crime goes up when economy goes down
Probably so. We know Republicans know how to scare their base with threatening dark people. Democratic politicians have little they can do to counter that narrative that will make a difference to those who get scared.
Joe Biden coming out and condemning violence in the street won't move any Republican needles and will do little to assure any suburban Dems who may be nervous.

Well, what about after yesterday's attempted assassination in Kenosha? I feel like voters are horrified all over again about the abuse of lethal force. And, maybe not so confused about the societal issues that need to be addressed.

Yes, it taps into white fear very well. And that's what this is about (politically speaking). White fear. I believe that even the concern about leftists/Antifa is subconsciously rooted in fear of latinx. It's Castro/Maduro/etc. Americans think about, not Stalin/Lushenko/Mladić.
