Speaking of the Constitution being a maleable document, would really love to see some commentary on the problem of $$$ in politics. There is a movement for getting money out of politics with a constitutional amendment, however it receives no MSM attention.

Like to think I’m tuned in politically but did know how bad misrepresentation is in the Senate. Along with the Electoral college system you have problems. We have regular state commissions to examine demographic shifts and adjust representation in parliament
-
We have that...sort of. Currently, 81% of the electoral votes are driven by demographics and number is recalculated every 10 years. The issue is that state legislative bodies have rigged the system to favorite incumbents and the incumbents' party.
-
Thus those electors in many states no longer truly represent the demographics of those states. AKA just getting rid of the other 19% of electors will not solve the problem. There are also many issues with just a straight popular vote.
-
And very clearly a striaght popular vote would disenfranchise millions of peoples. Even more than those people are disenfranchised right now.pic.twitter.com/Ce6wb9rYZz
-
Yeah I guess there has to be a balance struck otherwise the smaller rural states may not have their concerns aired on the national stage

The Senate is not the problem. Money in politics and gerrymandering is the problem. Work to expend easy of voting or even just add a process to the creation of new federal law requiring that they seek input for a committee of diverse citizens.pic.twitter.com/oMcL3LEtBV

I like your commitment to educating the public but you really need to work on getting some “balls” jokes in there. Then your information would really be spectacular...LIKE MY BALLS!
-
Well, I'm not a joking savant, like Ms. Silverman. I'm just a normal citizen who gets concerned when a policy is created without fully considering the effects of said policy.
-
She's more or less trying to overturn Obama Care without a real plan to replace it. And Dems and Dems-alike should understand what that feels like.

Seriously Sarah? You’re gonna ignore the House which representation is based on population. The bicameral system and it’s basis was covered in high school civics.
-
The Senate confirms justices and cabinet members.
-
Broken down, California has a population of 39,776,830 and the bottom 22 states have a combined population of 40,249,774, there is an issue. Those states have 914,767.59 per Senator. California has 19,888,415 people per Senator.
-
A couple things, states essentially operate has mini countries with oversight by a federal body. That system often increases choices and leads to the expansion of freedoms. A popular vote is not the same thing as equal representation.
-
The electoral college\electoral districting is an attempt at equal representation. As reformed by Section 2 of the Fourteenth Amendment. (One of the good Thaddeuses)pic.twitter.com/Sbvii8CFaE
-
A straight popular vote is a really, really bad idea. To use your numbers, there are more people in those 22 states then there are non-mixed raced black people in the United States.pic.twitter.com/XcZjthUcj1
-
Just getting rid of the 100 electors allocated due to the Senate will not fix the underline issues of voter suppression and gerrymandering. In addition after that, the law would still require each state and the District of Columbia to receive at least 1 elector.
-
All I'm saying is the system we have is indeed antiquated. People are not equally represented. I cannot come up with a perfect system. This nation has a history of disenfranchising voters. We cannot solve the problem until we admit the system does not work.
