Yesterday, we marked Maternal Health Awareness Day. I was proud to serve as the Senate sponsor of HCR 3, commemorating the day. I - and my colleagues - will continue to champion solutions that guarantee that every family in Delaware gets the care they need to live and thrive.

Banging the gavel on the first Senate committee hearing of the 152nd. The Senate Health and Social Services Committee met and voted to move forward my bill, SB 28, to continue to improve the Community Health License to Care for Underserved Populations that we passed last year.

Now more than ever, we must make smart investments in our public schools. Ahead of his State of the State, Gov. announced that his recommended budget will include a historic increase in classroom educator pay and more funding for our highest need schools.

Seeing lots of responses that Mainer is indeed still acceptable, but I still remain confused why "Maine people" is used. Someone said it's used in speeches. Is that because Mainer sounds like miner/minor with an accent? Maine people is neither shorter nor more poetic than Mainer.

For friends from Maine: I've noticed lots of leaders from Maine use the phrase "Maine people" to describe ppll from Maine rather than "Mainer," which I thought was the demonym. Is "Mainer" out of fashion? Are they both acceptable? When "Maine people" is used, is there a reason?

"So I've been hearing this phrase y'all got over here that I ain't too crazy about. 'It's the hope that kills you.' Y'all know that? I disagree, you know? I think it's the lack of hope that comes and gets you. See, I believe in hope. I believe in belief." iykyk

Today, I began my second term in the State Senate with my mom by my side and my dad swearing me in. Ten years ago, we stood as a family in this spot to ask that trans people like me be treated fairly. Today, we stood together in that same spot for me to take the oath of office.

GOP staffer sent me this to highlight how drawn out speakership race is impacting offices: “The response we got when we tried to contact the IRS on behalf of one of our constituents. Not sure people realize the non-political ramifications this has on our ability to help folks.”

Biden in Cabinet meeting said the Federal Trade Commission taking “huge step forward in preventing the non-compete agreements that are designed simply to lower people's wages.” Retail workers, construction workers, etc shouldn’t be blocked from working for competition, he said.

Wait until there's a national security crisis, a natural disaster, or a government shutdown and Congress can't respond. Then again, the GOP has temporarily eliminated the body currently trying to gut the rest of government. So feel free to cut off your nose to spite your face.

And look, the world still operates. Lesson for the "big government" team. You're way less important than you think you are.

Now that 2023 has arrived, Delaware's minimum wage will increase to $11.75, one more step in the state's ongoing path toward a $15 minimum wage.

This year, Delaware became the 12th state including DC to pass paid family and medical leave - a huge win for our workers, our families, and our economy. I was so happy to work alongside friends at to pass this bill.
