When I think about it, if the U.S. had spent a quarter of its budget on a robust nation-wide education campaign in 2001, imagine the educated youth population we’d have now. 70% of Afghans are under the age of 25. What kind of Afghanistan would we be today?
My next tech project will be education related. Proper, high-quality education from K-12. Education that will be recognized globally but with an Afghan foundation of history and culture. The Taliban needs an illiterate and weak population to stay in power. We won’t allow it.
It seems like a lot of progress already. But the most educated people presumably don’t go into the army. And they certainly don’t become “regional elders.”

Sara, unfortunately, no nation would be sincere in educating another nation. It just doesn't work that way. Your leaders were the recipients of that money and they are the ones that should have done it but their priorities were different.
America cannot do everything. Afghanistan govt should have done it
The kind that wouldn’t have served US interests in keeping Afghanistan dependent on it and pulling the rug whenever it needed to sow chaos for sinister political goals.
Keep faith in God
The USA spent a vast sum getting the Soviets out of Afghanistan in the 1980s. If they’d then spent a fraction of that building schools & hospitals, today would be very different.
