One of the (wonderful) silver linings of the rapidly unfolding situations across Afghanistan, Tunisia & Lebanon are the authentic voices that are leading the narrative. No longer will our discourses be formed by “foreign” experts, partying journalists or prestigious publications.

It’s high time we question the narrative imposed on us, the product we are forced to buy, whether it is really what we need or not. We are sold prepackaged democracy as a panacea without the option to customize to our local realities, capacities, needs & priorities.
Fantastically put. Without the capacity to shape and mold a concept to match our very specific realities, it is impossible to achieve, and can be more detrimental than one could ever imagine.
