    The checkpoint situation at Kabul airport has plummeted into chaos. Safe passage is not possible whatsoever at this point. Getting to the airport has become an extremely dangerous feat and the crowds are growing larger by the minute. We need answers immediately, .

    Taliban have put up checkpoints at entrance to airport, residents tell me. That’s preventing thousands of Afghans who have travel docs from leaving. As reports, some evacuation flights leaving nearly empty. Window of opportunity closing for Afghans to escape.

    Those of us old enough remember that Abdul Ali Mazari was meeting Taliban for peace talks when they captured, killed and threw him out of a helicopter in 1995

    So Taliban have blown up slain leader Abdul Ali Mazari’s statue in Bamiyan. Last time they executed him, blew up the giant statues of Buddha and all historical and archeological sites. Too much of ‘general amnesty’.

    I don’t give a damn how much Afghan refugees may or may not contribute, how entrepreneurial they are, or whether they’ll come to love America. Our doors must be open to them. They are intrinsically worthy, they are in terrible danger, and we are directly responsible. Full stop.

    This is not a civil war, President Biden. If Afghans did not want to leave “earlier”, the scenes we have seen recently speak otherwise. The U.S. had every right to leave Afghanistan, but for the sake of the Afghan people, allow them to seek asylum in peace.

    What is happening in Spin Boldak, Farah and Lashkar Gah must be investigated. To turn a blind eye would do more harm than good for those persistently seeking an inclusive settlement. Also, where is ?

    Amnesty for everyone who have worked in government, with NGOs etc. If all Taliban fighters honor this and Taliban leadership agrees to an inclusive settlement, there can be reason for hope. But news of executions keep coming out of Kandahar, Spin Boldak, Farah and other provinces

    Remarkable is an extremely tone-deaf word. This is a travesty. Girls who walked with their heads held high, the top of their class at Kabul University, are now veiled by Burqa. Music will be silenced. Discourse will be punished. Shame on the international community.

    It is an inexplicable feeling when you realize the deafening silence of the law during times of war. My most ardent hope is that the Taliban will be held accountable for defying incessant calls for a ceasefire, and investigated for their war crimes in Spin Boldak & Lashkar Gah.
