He’s not doing it for his own ego though, he’s doing it because he’s a veteran and he wants to make sure our troops and our SIVs are OK. He wants to know if reports like this are true:

I don't think its about ego but rather accountability. There are rumors that thousands of Americans could be left behind and are unable to reach the airport.
