After the Parkland shooting, I thought surely our nation is done with this. But my son came to me and said, “Come on Mom, no one is stopping it. It'll just keep happening.” He was right—we had the power to change it, and we hadn’t done anything.

Those words broke my heart that day. They push me everyday. No child should have their life cut short from gun violence. No child should be afraid to go to school. No child should feel this hopeless about the possibility of change.

As we honor the memory of those we lost two years ago today, we must maintain the hope and commitment we need to end gun violence in this country. My heart is with the Parkland community on this difficult day.

After Sandy Hook...... how big does the tragedy need to be for it to matter? Las Vegas, churches? All of us. They won’t care until every last one is gone. That’s the greed.

Flordia Republican rule. They keep on ruling election after election. They'll make sure nothing will be changed.

My heart breaks for any victim and the friends and family and community impacted by gun violence. This tweet, sadly, always remains relevant:pic.twitter.com/EbUU9XntLn

If a bunch of kindergartners getting killed at school didnt change anything then nothing will.

I thought Sandy Hook would be the catalyst for change. When 1st graders didn’t change this mindset of this country, I realized nothing would.

Unfortunately that was my thought shortly after sandy hook. Americans have normalized children's deaths to a profit margin.
