There’s a limited practical diff between telling girls they won’t succeed because they lack something & telling girls they won’t succeed because *the world thinks* they lack something. Both anchor young people to an approval/permission-seeking mindset that would slow anyone down

This. I got all the way through a bachelor’s in math without objection or discouragement from anyone involved. THEN contemporary feminists/feminist lit started telling me nobody thinks I can do math. 🤔

A friend of mine once said, "living in suburbia sucks because all you have is the internet, and the internet isn't real" A few common narratives get exponentially amplified till its a trope, and that doesn't always reflect everyones reality
