More on 2): Avoiding hurt/pain in the short-run isn’t “overcoming a difficult situation”—it’s setting yourself up to confront even bigger demons later on in exchange for hiding from discomfort now. Learning how to not be avoidant is hard, but the long-run playoffs are enormous.
