The manner of burial, funerary offerings, etc. followed Rig Vedic tradition & rituals. The Rig Veda (10th Mandala, 15th hymn, 14th verse) invokes our ancestors who are "both cremated (agnidagdha-) and uncremated (anagnidagdha-)".
