No way can they catch the faring. Fisrt, there are two halves, they have no propulsion for steering, you'll never get that ship under it. More like this will carry the faring back to port. IMHO.

Fairings have cold has thrusters to orient for reentry then pop steerable GPS guided parafoils to steer a known course and descent rate.
