    25 - But here's an argument you might actually listen to. Business likes stability. Unless you're *that* kind of investor, you don't like unpredictable volatility. The best way to ensure volatility is to take away quality journalism within a community. Or a country.

    Alden is shredding its local newspapers so it can buy up Greek debt or whatever. After it's done pumping those newspapers dry, that local news coverage is... gone. It's not getting replaced by BuzzFeed Denver. Alternatively, an indy Denver Post could keep cruising for a while.

    Just to clear this up, I’ve gotten some nice emails in the last few days wishing me well in my “retirement.” That’s much appreciated, and I wish that was the case — and maybe some people want to retire me — but I’m an unemployed “legend” looking for a job.

    This is not a decline-of-newspapers story. It's a corporate governance story. I would love to be able to tell Denver residents that they should subscribe so they can support their local paper. But look at where their money is going.
