For a long time folks said the universal programs we have been advocating are "non-viable politically"; now they are part of the legitimate discourse. Shouldn't self-censor ourselves from pursuing the right thing because we don't believe there is enough current support for it.

Some things we should take from obama was his ability to assuage white fear. I think marketing explicitly racial solutions to whites from a universalist starting point is much more doable than people think. We must challenge conventional thinking on all fronts.
